She was 91 years of age. She was engaged in parish work at St. Marys Parish in New Monmouth NJ (1990-2002), and she also taught in the parish school from 1990-98. Sr. Mary Louis was the director of Dominican Education Center at Sinsinawa, WI, and pastoral associate at Holy Family Ministry Center, Apalachicola, FL, before earning her doctorate from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Joanne Nichols passed away unexpectedly at Delta Health Hospital surrounded by her family on February 20, 2023. When she was no longer able to go to the hospital on a regular basis, she continued to set up the monthly masses and functioned as a Eucharistic minister for as long as she was able. Sister Anne Francis McNally, OP of the Dominican Sisters of Hope died April 17, 2019 in St Catherine of Siena Convent, Caldwell, New Jersey. SPRINGFIELD, ILL.-The Dominican Sisters of Springfield will hold an open house for graduates of Sacred Heart Academy who lived at Siena Hall as students, a final memorial to the building before it is razed sometime during the summer months. Sister Ann Victor Mazza, OP of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, died October 26, 2021 at St Catherine of Siena Convent in Caldwell, New Jersey. Sr. Michaeleen entered the Congregation in 1948, made first profession in 1950, and took her final vows in 1953. She brought her gentle and affable ways to her teaching and administration positions while demonstrating a high level of competence. Sister Teresa Paul Heinke, OP of the Dominican Sisters of Hope died on February 24, 2019. Families at St. Vincent Ferrer Parish would boast that Sr. Susan had taught three straight generations of their family. Sister Louise Place, OP (Sister Mary Lawrence) of the Dominican Sisters of Hope died on April 23, 2020, at the Wartburg, Mount Vernon, New York. After working for several years following high school graduation, she entered the Congregation in 1932, made her first profession in 1933, and took her final vows in 1936. Sr. Mary Esther was remembered at her visitation on December 21. She worked as a computer programmer for Tru-Fit in Medina for several years before helping the Akron Motherhouse and the Congregation with their computer installations. She was 89 years of age. On Tuesday, January 12, 2021, Florence Kissane, an associate with the Dominican Sisters of Hope, passed away peacefully, at her home in Hampton Bays. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on January 5 at Our Lady of the Elms Convent Chapel. She celebrated her Irish heritage. She ministered at the Saint George Hospital in Cincinnati, and at Mohun Health Care Center for more than two decades. The daughter of the late John M. and Jessie (Downs) Heery, she was born July 22, 1936 in Woodbury, New Jersey. A longtime principal, educator, and friend, Dominican Sister of Hope Mary Aquin McDonald is remembered lovingly by the Dominican Sisters of Hope and her New Jersey and New York communities.
